The Accountable Care Partnership (ACP) workforce and organisational development workstream brings together staff from ACP organisations to develop staff in a joined up way.
Sheffield’s ACP partners employ more than 38,000 staff and volunteers between them. This workforce is an integral part of the population we serve. We need to focus on the health and wellbeing of our staff, bringing them together across organisational boundaries to harness their passion, ingenuity, talents, differences and shared sense of purpose.
In Autumn 2018 work began on developing a city wide workforce strategy, initially starting with a focus on the older people’s care workforce following the findings and recommendations from the CQC’s Local System Review.
Development of this strategy has involved data collection and workshops to engage with staff and public ensuring the right people had input to the strategy. A summary of the engagement includes:
- Two staff and public workshops held in Dec-18 and Jan-19 with 4 members of the public and 141 staff attending from across the ACP partners and other organisations involved in health and social care across the city.
- An additional workshop held in July 2019 with staff and public covering children’s services and hard-to-reach and vulnerable adults.
- Public engagement activity led by Healthwatch Sheffield with one workshop dedicated to exploring their views around the Older People’s workforce strategy, and a further three workshops looking at a broader ACP theme which incorporated elements of the workforce strategy.
- In addition to the workshops, there was an online questionnaire that enabled a greater number of staff and the public to contribute their views.
Feedback from this questionnaire and the workshops, along with trends identified through the collection of data has all been integrated within the draft strategy. Consultation is continuing into Autumn 2019, with a plan to present a final version to the ACP Board in October 2019. This work falls under the ACP workstream – Workforce & Organisational Development. Find more information on the other Delivery Groups.
